At its core, the MSD Billet Distributor features a CNC machined billet aluminum housing and base that provide both durability and a clean, high quality appearance. It comes equipped with a Digital HEI Module and matching MSD HEI Coil, including an 8.5 amp single spark inductive discharge module (PN 83647) and HEI Coil (PN 8225). This combination delivers full spark energy up to 9,000 RPM while enhancing dwell consistency and timing accuracy. The centrifugal advance assembly is TIG welded to the distributor shaft and incorporates staked and welded weight pins, nylon guide pads for smooth movement, and fine blanked chrome moly steel weights and advance plate treated with a QPQ coating to minimize friction. Included are three spring sets and four stop bushings, allowing up to 24 potential timing curve combinations. For racing applications, the mechanical advance can be locked out, and the vacuum advance canister may also be disabled if desired.

A polished steel shaft treated with QPQ coating rides on a sealed ball bearing for stability, while a dedicated oil passage improves lubrication to both the distributor and cam gear. The unit is supplied with a brass terminal cap, rotor, coil cover, and heavy duty gear for convenient installation. Part number 8365 is intended as a direct replacement for HEI distributors that utilize a 4 pin ignition module and carries CARB E.O. approval.
