This distributor is intended for use with an MSD Crank Trigger and MSD Ignition Control, providing precise timing management in high performance applications. Its compact, low profile configuration allows clearance for tight intake manifolds, firewall constraints, and specialized induction systems, while still delivering high voltage from an MSD racing ignition to the spark plugs. A large diameter distributor cap with widely spaced terminals helps minimize spark scatter in engines producing high cylinder pressures.
An injection molded Rynite rotor with substantial vanes circulates air inside the cap to aid cooling, and a high dielectric Rynite base helps guard against arcing to the billet aluminum housing. The polished steel shaft is treated with a QPQ coating to reduce friction and is supported by a sealed ball bearing along with an extended sintered bushing for durability and stability at high RPM. A bronze distributor gear is included for compatibility with race camshafts. For engines with altered deck heights, the Tall Block version incorporates an adjustable slip collar mounting flange to ensure proper fitment. O ring seals may also be added to modified blocks to assist with oil pressure management.
