The MSD HEI Distributor (PN 8366) is designed as a replacement for GM V8 applications equipped with the small-cap distributor and dual-connector coil used in 1987–1993 passenger cars and 1987–1995 trucks. Its CNC-machined billet aluminum housing and base are manufactured to tight tolerances for added strength and durability. A dedicated oil passage at the base of the housing helps improve lubrication to both the distributor and cam gear. Internally, a large 0.500-inch polished steel shaft with a QPQ coating is supported by a sealed ball bearing and an extended-length sintered bushing to promote smooth operation and reduced wear. A magnetic pickup and precision reluctor generate a consistent trigger signal throughout the RPM range, working with a factory-style ignition module that connects to the original wiring harness for straightforward installation. The distributor is equipped with a heavy-duty rotor and a late-model red MSD cap featuring brass terminals to ensure strong spark transfer. It carries Marine UL certification, is legal for use in all 50 states, and can accommodate O-ring seals in modified blocks to assist with oil pressure control.
