A magnetic pickup positioned in the lower housing triggers eight precision reluctor paddles, delivering accurate and repeatable timing without the maintenance associated with traditional points-style systems.

The rotating assembly rides on a 0.500-inch shaft supported by sealed ball bearings for long-lasting durability. Once triggered, the signal is directed to the Electronic Points Box, which manages spark duration before transferring energy to the 44 coil. The coil, constructed with hand-wound windings containing more than a pound of copper wire, rapidly steps up voltage and channels it through the distributor cap to the appropriate spark plug for efficient combustion.
