The MSD Ultra 6A Ignition Control Box features a capacitive discharge design that produces multiple high intensity sparks for more complete combustion and steady power output. Where traditional inductive systems can suffer from reduced coil saturation time at high RPM, this unit maintains strong spark energy between 135mJ and 150mJ on every firing event. A high speed controller continuously adjusts output voltage to maintain accurate timing, while advanced filtering shields the circuitry from Electro Magnetic Interference. It is safeguarded against open coil, shorted coil, and open load conditions and operates on most 7 to 28 volt electrical systems, with 12 to 15 volts typical and 7 volt start capability. Current draw is approximately 1.1 amp per 1,000 RPM, and the system supports engine speeds up to 15,000 RPM at 14.4 volts. Designed as a direct upgrade for existing 6201 MSD 6A installations, it connects to points and magnetic pickup distributors, fits 4, 6, and 8 cylinder distributor equipped engines, includes a tach output, and comes in a compact housing that is significantly smaller and lighter than the MSD Digital 6A.
