The water temperature sensor, installed in the conduit of the engine cooling circuit, measures the temperature of the coolant by means of a thermistor (a resistor, whose resistance depends on the
temperature). The signal indicating the temperature is sent to the engine control unit in order to control the injection, for example when enriching the mixture during the car ignition phase at low temperatures.
