That "laughing monkeys" sound coming from your Jeep is no laughing matter. The original equipment design Chrysler oil pump drive assembly (OPDA) on certain Jeep Wrangler TJ models with 4.0L six-cylinder engines tends to fail due to insufficient lubrication of the upper bushing, which causes the center shaft to seize. A malfunctioning OPDA can destroy the cam bearing and filters, and in extreme cases of wear or neglect, stop driving the oil pump. Before any of that very expensive damage occurs, you may be treated to a sound that Wrangler owners know belongs in a jungle, not underneath the hood of their vehicle. This Dorman OE FIX OPDA replaces the flawed factory original steel upper bushing with one made of a self-lubricating material. This design upgrade is engineered to ensure the proper and consistent lubrication of the center shaft of the OPDA assembly, providing a more permanent repair that will keep future costs at bay and snickering simians where they belong.
